One of the most awaited features of the iPad is its eBook reader. Apple has created an application famously known as the iBook which enables users to create their own virtual bookshelf and purchase eBooks with the help of its built-in iBookstore. However, due to iBookstores higher price range (about $12.99-$14.99 per book while some other store sells it for $9.99 only), users are frantically looking for some other options or sites where they can purchase Ipad books for less.

The good news is that Apples iBook app uses the EPUB format. An EPUB is a file format similar to MS Words DOC and Adobes PDF. EPUB, however, is free and standardized type of file format. It is universal in a way that almost every eBook reader can understand such file. One big exception to the list of eReaders is Amazons Kindle. You have to convert the file that can be understood by Kindle first before you are able to read it.

The question that is still left to be answered is where you can find cheap Ipad books online and how you can avoid paying up to $14.99 for a single ebook at Apple's iBookstore. First, you should be aware that Google has approximately (over) one million free books. If you are looking for a public domain ebook you can most likely get it in EPUB format on Google for free. You will need to start a search for the ebook you are looking for on Google and cross your fingers that it is offered in EPUB format for free. You can also try epubBooks which was developed by Mike Cook. Its contents or list of books are somehow the same with Googles but they added additional features such as black and white or color illustrations. Mike Cook claims that even the ebooks are given away for free, the quality is still extremely good.

Another option is to go to your local library and take advanatge of the ebooks offered in EPUB format there. You will find that many libraries all over the world even offer digital libraries online offering free EPUB ebooks downloads for free.

The project Gutenberg website is great for people who are in love with classic books. Project Gutenberg will give you access to over 30,000 ebooks for free. These ebooks can be offered for free, because the copyright has expired and they are now in the public domain.

If you start a search on Google you will find a lot of websites offering either Ipad downloads or at a very cheap price.
